Why did the fourth official chastise Antonio Conte during the first half of Tottenham's match against Everton last night?

Tottenham were fantastic against Everton last night, and Antonio Conte couldn't contain his delight on the sidelines at moments. Spurs thrashed Everton 5-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday, and the Toffees were fortunate that the result didn't seem any worse.

Conte's team, as strong as they were, squandered several opportunities. Spurs' confidence will be sky-high now, despite the fact that they might have easily scored ten against the Toffees last night.

Conte would have disliked it if fourth official Martin Atkinson had a go at him on the touchline last night.

According to Football London, Antonio Conte dashed outside his technical area during the first half of the game last night to speak with Ryan Sessegnon.

The Italian was 10 or 15 yards away from where he was meant to be, not just a few steps outside the area. As his teammates pushed the ball over the backline towards him, he was apparently directing Sessegnon on his placement.

As Conte moved back to his technical area, an angry Atkinson approached him and told him he couldn't do it again. As the game neared halftime, the fourth official was seen keeping a tight check on Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to ensure he didn't leave his area. This isn't the first time Conte has been chastised by the fourth official for leaving his technical area, and it won't be the last.

Tottenham's victory last night was a huge one. Yes, they were pre-game favorites to win all three points, but this was exactly the sort of game that Spurs supporters feared their team would lose. Fortunately for them, Everton were dreadful, and Tottenham did everything they could to win a resounding victory.

Spurs will play Manchester United in what may be considered a six-pointer next. With a win on Saturday, Tottenham will move ahead of the Red Devils, who still have two games in hand.
